In Iowa, Vivek definitely has some voters intrigued, however, they are not 100% sure if they are ready to abandon Trump. According to a CNN article, Mara Brown, a retired teacher in Des Moines said “I’m really intrigued by this new candidate. He’s very young, very personable. There’s a spark there,”. Brown has considered herself an avid Trump supporter but feels like she could become a Vivek supporter due to how personal he is.
Vivek is not running to be president for this current election, however, is he running to be the future of the party. If Trump is elected and serves his four years, he is no longer eligible to be President again, so the party will need someone new to rally behind. We believe that Vivek is running for this position. He is appealing to Trump’s crowd by agreeing with different beliefs Trump has, as well as in the first debate he was one of the first candidates to raise his hand saying he would support Trump if he was elected. To also show more support for Trump, he has been backing him up during his lawsuit. Ramaswamy who’s running against Trump for the GOP nomination, said the indictments against Trump “selectively omit relevant facts and law” and argued, “the corrupt federal police won’t stop until they’ve achieved their mission: eliminate Trump.”
We don’t think he will be the last man standing at the end of this presidential nomination race. While he has gained traction with younger voters that used to support Trump, there are still many groups that he is having difficulty connecting with. While having his own ideas and beliefs with how he can be compared to Trump we can see many just lean towards Trump due to his prior experience. Vivek is also going to have difficulty going against people who really have made a name for themselves in politics. Another way he’s getting the attention of the young voters of Iowa he is giving speeches at college bars and sponsoring events for rallies.
